Benny was raised in New Jersey and received her bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies at Rutgers University. It was at Rutgers where Benny began her anti-violence work as a student educator surrounding topics of interpersonal violence and bystander intervention. After graduation, Benny worked as a bilingual case manager at Women Aware, a domestic violence agency in Middlesex County. Benny permanently relocated to Washington, DC in 2014 and has continued working directly with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child sexual abuse. Benny now works in prevention education and training and holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
