24/7 Hotline
DCRCC’s 24-hour hotline receives thousands of calls annually. Callers include survivors of rape and incest, their friends and relatives, and professionals who work with them. Many callers have histories of sexual assault, but choose to contact us years or even decades after the assault has occurred. Trained volunteer counselors provide immediate support to callers as well as referrals to resources.

Counseling Services
The DC Rape Crisis Center offers free counseling for survivors and significant others (family, friends, and partners). The DC Rape Crisis Center’s model for counseling is based on the empowerment model, which stresses the inherent wisdom and knowledge of people to heal and direct their own lives. DCRCC’s therapists are helpers, not directors, in the lives of our clients. Sessions are guided by what the survivor wants to do in his or her life.
Confidentiality: All information is confidential within the DC Rape Crisis Center, including information shared with one’s counselor and the fact that the person is receiving services at the center. No information will be disclosed without a signed release. The only exception to our strict confidentiality policy is if the individual poses a threat to her/himself or to others, or if there is a situation involving ongoing child abuse.
Call our business line at (202) 232-0789 to schedule a 50-minute intake session. Intakes are an information gathering session, when a counselor will collect basic information about you, your background, and your experiences. The counselor will also discuss what you are dealing with presently and what you hope to achieve through counseling.
