Answer c is correct.
If you are supporting someone who has been sexually assaulted, you should ___.
- ask for the details of the assault
- tell the survivor what they should do
- believe the survivor
- tell the survivor everything will be okay
The best way to support a survivor is to believe them and be supportive. Asking for details may make the survivor relive the attack and re-traumatize them. Only a survivor can decide what to do; they are the experts on their lives. Telling a survivor everything will be okay is making a promise you cannot keep. Be gentle, patient and sensitive to a survivor’s feelings and needs.
