Internships & Graduate Students: Graduate Students

The graduate school internship program at the DC Rape Crisis Center (DCRCC) is a challenging and competitive placement. The DCRCC accepts applicants entering their second year of masters programs in counseling, psychology, and social work. The internship program includes the following opportunities:

  • conduct individual psychotherapy with adult survivors of sexual abuse
  • co-facilitate a support or psycho-educational support group with a staff therapist for adult survivors of sexual abuse (on site and/or off site)
  • provide crisis-counseling on the 24-hour hotline
  • be available as an on-call advocate to assist at the hospital for a forensic exam (crisis counseling only)
  • participate in weekly case presentations with the clinical staff
  • participate in weekly theory presentations with the clinical staff
  • assist in the planning and implementation of city-wide held events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
  • conduct outreach to the community about the resources offered by the DCRCC
  • individual supervision with licensed therapist provided
  • peer & group supervision provided
