Volunteer Shout Out!

This Month’s Volunteer Shout Out goes to David Hutchinson!

David Hutchinson was our 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient! David has been volunteering with DCRCC since 2009 and has always been deeply invested in supporting DCRCC as a ‘jack of all trades’. David currently serves on our 24-hour crisis hotline, however, during his time as a volunteer has helped with ALL training sessions of new volunteers, tabling and community outreach, organizing volunteer social and Sexual Assault Awareness Month events, helped develop a support group for survivors recovering from alcoholism and addiction, along with a plethora of other projects in his five years of service with DCRCC.

A highlight of volunteering with DCRCC for David is talking to callers who discover over the course of a call that they have made progress and realize ways to take care of themselves. He also has been thankful for the support of the volunteer program as well as being part of a community of people with similar interests and passions who can get together, support, and help one another.

Before volunteering with DCRCC, David volunteered with a number of other crisis and suicide hotlines since 1999. David is deeply passionate, committed to, and grateful for his experience volunteering with DCRCC.

“Volunteering with DCRCC has changed my life in lots of unexpected ways that I did not realize or see in the process. It is the most rewarding part of my life, my passion.”

What does David do to take care of himself? Dancing every Friday night!

Thank you David for being such an important part of our team!
