Position for Hire: Senior Trauma Therapist

DESCRIPTION: The DC Rape Crisis Center is one of the country’s first rape crisis centers. Beyond providing therapeutic support to survivors, the DC Rape Crisis Center consciously works towards building a consent-based society. At the heart of DCRCC’s clinical approach is a deep understanding of the intersectionality of oppression and how racial injustice and gender-based violence are linked.

REPORTING/AUTHORITY: The Senior Trauma Therapist is supervised by the Clinical Director.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Provides direct mental health services to clients who have experienced sexual trauma as a child or adult. The Senior Trauma Therapist will conduct trainings for graduate student therapists and provide supervision to trainees.

Clinical Duties

  • Provide trauma informed and culturally competent, individual, and group counseling for survivors of sexual trauma and crisis counseling as needed
  • Maintain caseload of individual clients
  • Coordinate clinical trauma training for graduate student program
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate interns
  • Implement trainings to professional groups and organizations
  • Develop and modify group curriculums as needed
  • Serve as hotline advocate and provide backup coverage as needed Administrative Duties
  • Maintain individual and department goals, activity metrics and key performance indicators
  • Collect, analyze and complete data reporting in alignment with requirements for both agency and funders
  • Complete administrative paperwork in a timely fashion and maintains client records
  • Attend internal and external meetings with staff and community stakeholders
  • Conduct outreach to groups, individuals and organizations in the community to increase awareness and usage of Center services
  • Promote, support and demonstrate DCRCC’s mission, vision and values through both behavior and job performance and adhere to policies, procedures, and standards on a day to day basis
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker in D.C.
  • Proficient knowledge of issues of sexual trauma and gender based violence
  • Proven experience with trauma informed counseling
  • Demonstrates cultural competency in working with a diverse population
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of database management systems

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience. DC Rape Crisis Center provides employees with a comprehensive benefits package including paid holidays, vacation, sick and parental leave, in addition to paid time off during agency’s winter break; flexible schedule; health insurance contribution and ongoing training and professional development.

HOURS: Position is full-time with at least two evenings (one until 9pm) each week and one Friday evening a month. May include one Saturday morning a month as a backup for when Clinical Director is out.
